Have you ever been in a situation where you are late for something and someone asks you ‘’Where are you?’’ or you meet someone on your way somewhere and you asked “Where you going?” and you fully aware of the fact that such a questions do not always come from a concerned heart but come because of tradition and a regular custom thus, mostly gets an answer the is Compromised by this I mean not revealing your exact location?

To others, this is a very simple question because they will easily give a reason like “I am not exactly there but am almost there and its okay to say am there but Does God Take Almost there to be the same as Been there?

So TeamJesus Movement are you saying that we are sinning even when we give a false statement to someone just to surprise them on their birthday or special occasion?

Well, let’s start by defining a lie from the dictionary?

A lie is an Intentionally false statement. Meaning any false statement intentionally made is a lie which IS A SIN.

I will continue by saying Dishonesty is not a trait of Christ.

And Yet this simple traditional question (Where are you?) has put Christians in a state of Sin every time we give an answer which is not true. This been something I have done for years and not actually noticed that it is a sin, thus I asked the Lord how we would actually respond in truth to such a Question especially to a person barely known. As I went through the Bible I found various texts in which Jesus was faced with questions from the Pilate where He was faced with a choice to deny His State (Refer this to a person’s state of where the truly are) but He didn’t, even to the point of choosing silence even though it would lead Him to death.. Let’s take a look:

Matt 27:11-14

Meanwhile, Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”

“Yes, it is as you say,” Jesus replied.

12 When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. 13 Then Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?” 14 But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge — to the great amazement of the governor.

NIV

If you read further you will find out that a murderer and deadly criminal was released in the place of an innocent man Jesus and Jesus been God knew what would happen before it did but still refused to conform to the standard or tradition of the world that would seek to save themselves and He stood on the truth.

Lying has become a widely unnoticed sin that has opened up a loophole to the devil to enter and scheme a plan to kill us and He has schemed so well, Christians now do it with ease because they feel it’s a small thing.

let us look at what happened when people felt a lie was too small:

Acts 5:3-6 (Acts 5:1-11 Full Story)
Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4 Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God.”

5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6 Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.
NIV

Well, no Sin is too small, and yet as Christians, we have conformed to little traditions of this world that cause us to lie with the excuse that’s what NORMALLY DONE OR NORMALLY SAID.

A Murderer and a liar are both qualified for hell. Hell Has NO VIP everyone burns.
take a good look at this text from the Bible:

Proverbs 6:16-17

16 There are six things the Lord hatesseven that are detestable to him:

17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,

NIV

Lastly, looking at the fact that everyone is conscious of keeping the secrecy of their personal state especially to people they don’t know. I urge you to choose silence over a lie because indeed the Word Of God says if you break one law you are guilty of breaking all. ~ James 2:10 (Meaning all Sins are the same and non-is greater than the other).

DO NOT LOOK GOOD WITH A LIE ONLY TO LOSE THE ONE THINGS GOD HAS KEPT FOR US – ETERNAL LIFE In Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.
